FirstyWork and FirstyFish are back from BookExpo America. It was nothing short of spectacular! The International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) conference, on the Tuesday, was very informative for anyone interested in the details of ePub 2.0, the agency model and other aspects of book selling and ePublishing issues.

For sheer size and flamboyance, the main event could not have been more fantastic. From our popular stand in the digital zone, we could see an ocean of people - exhibitors, authors and publishers. There were queues for everything from book signings to burgers. We met a small but nevertheless sizeable percentage of the attendees and would have liked to have met many more. The shared passion for the written word, in all its forms, was clearly a central theme for everyone and we were happy to join the discussion in these changing times.

If you missed the chance to talk to us in New York and/or would like to speak to us now about your eBook strategy, please get in touch.

On behalf of Darin Brockman (MD), The Firsty Group would like to thank the IDPF and BookExpo America for putting on such a great exhibition. We are already looking forward the extended - day event next year - 2 days is far too short.

iPad: A Ferrari being driven at 40mph
First, a disclaimer before my daughter and I review our shiny new iPad: our religious leaning; we are regular visitors to the high church of Jobs. We kneel at Apple's beautifully designed altar and not just on Sundays. We believe.
So, an unbiased review? Perhaps not, but we'll try... Read more »

Against Flash By Buying An iPad Every 3 Seconds
You may have thought you knew exactly what Steve Jobs thought about Adobe Flash considering he wrote a 1,700-word blog post on it back in April. But today at the D8 Conference outside of Los Angeles, he made himself a little bit more clear... Read more »

Apple blocks apps with minimal user functionality
Back in December 2008, when the App Store was still less than half a year old, I wrote a post about an application that has now become something of an iPhone staple: iFart. The app and similar ‘gross’ applications like it have gone on to become immensely popular, proving that the general public has an insatiable and somewhat disturbing appetite for recorded flatulence...
