We had a tremendous time at the London Book Fair last week. Thanks to all who came to say hello and a warm welcome to all our new clients who have since joined us. We’re looking forward to starting your eBook conversions and sales and in the meantime we hope you find this email of interest, a copy of which will be finding it’s way to your inbox once a month.
The world of apps, eReader devices and content continues to drive our market, moving from novelty to increasingly vital revenue streams for publishers and authors. FirstyWork has seen statistics via a pre eminent source that suggest around 1.43 million eReader devices were shipped Jan-March globally this year, whilst quarter 2 is on track with 2.2 million. The likely outcome for this year is expected to be in excess of 11 million devices sold. The main instigators of this steep increase appear to be the established device brands who continually improve their products. The Barnes and Noble eReader the "Nook" took 53% of the total US devices sold in March. Its a new device which would explain it’s impressive market share, however it demonstrates that there is still plenty of room for new players.

| FirstyWork at the NY Book Expo |
The next big get together is BookExpo America in New York. Indications are that exhibitors and attendees will be ramping up their presence based on the difficulties many had in getting to the London Book Fair. No doubt Frankfurt will also prove to be an even bigger draw for more European orientated organisations for the same reasons.
We have a stand at The Book Expo which is being held on Wednesday 26th May and Thursday 27th May in New York, so please pop along for a chat. We can be found on stand 2128 in the Digital Zone.
Our FirstyWork and FirstyFish staff enjoy getting together with publishers and authors at events, shows and expos. If you would like to meet us to discuss your digital publishing requirements then please just give us a call or send an email. |
